The role

The Senior 2nd/3rd Level SQL SERVER DBA position at SoftwareONE Gurgaon or Chennai, India represents a key role in managing and maintaining the organizations IT (Infrastructure Team) services and assets. SoftwareONE anticipates the need to manage hyper-growth for the next several years.

Roles & Responsibilities/Skills Requirements:


  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high-levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Automation of DB’s
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
  • Improve service availability and performance by continuously fine-tuning the cloud environments.
  • Leverage tools to automate IT processes, administrational and operational tasks.
  • Recognizes and identifies opportunities for IT system and services improvement and lead the implementation in all areas of assigned responsibilities.
  • Identifies potential areas where existing Standard Operational Procedures and documentation require change, or where new ones need to be developed, and makes recommendations.
  • Understand and operate within company policies and procedures.
  • Strong experience and working knowledge on Cloud (Azure/AWS) and Scripting language i.e., PowerShell. Knowledge of PowerShell would be an add-on.


Skills and Qualifications


  • 7-9+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Scalability, High Availability & Redundancy concepts
  • Self-motivated & self-starting individual
