    IT Infrastructure represents a key area in the organization’s ability to keep pace with the IT needs of Internal Users, Direct Customers, VARassist Partners and Strategic Publisher Partners. SoftwareONE Business IT focuses on proven ITIL based processes. As part of a global IT organization, this position is working in the Service Design and Service Transition processes area and reports directly to the 3rd Level team lead.


    • Deploy, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including routers, switches, wireless, load balancers and firewalls (partly managed services, outsourced)
    • Design, implement and perform network and host-based security integration projects and activities
    • Design, implement and perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
    • Design and implement necessary controls and procedures to protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction
    • Define, implement and enhance network monitoring capabilities, detect problems and suggest solutions
    • Define and implement Web Application Firewall configurations
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose problems and resolve issues (often under time constraints) incl. escalation to upper level or management if needed
    • Take a leading role in incident response handling, firewall and IPSec/VPN management and administration (partly managed services, outsourced)
    • Respond to information security issues during each stage of a project’s lifecycle
    • Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices
    • Create and maintain documentation and knowledge transfer
    • Perform Change Management activities based on ITIL processes
    • Continuously improve processes and practices in all areas of IT responsibility
    • Run projects in a fast-paced environment, independently or within a team
    • Serve as primary point of contact on all network and security related matters
    • Work closely with peers in project or assigned tasks to meet group and departmental goals incl. regular status meetings
    • Update job knowledge on emerging technologies via professional groups, trade magazines, internal and external training, independent research and study as well as other means available


    • 5+ years of expertise in implementing, administering and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and controllers as well as monitoring applications
    • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Cisco Network Administrator
    • Expert knowledge of Cisco Nexus and Catalyst technologies
    • Experienced with Cisco WaaS and Meraki Wireless and wired environments and technologies
    • Experienced with Citrix Netscaler including Web Application Firewall, Unified Gateway, SSLVPN
    • Experienced with Load balancer technologies (preferrably, Citrix NetScaler)
    • Proven experience of enterprise security concepts
    • Intermediate to expert understanding of firewall configuration and maintenance, experience with Juniper equipment preferred
    • Intermediate to expert understanding of web application firewall concepts and technologies
    • Intermediate to expert experience with configuration, installation, troubleshooting and support of networking, wireless and server equipment
    • Intermediate to expert knowledge of 802.1x and QoS
    • Familiarity with cloud networking and converged infrastructure (preferrably Cisco UCS) is a plus
    • Ability to translate requirements into tangible results
    • Certifications:
      • Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) is a must
      • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) is beneficial
      • Citrix Certified Administrator/Professional Networking (CCA/CCP-Networking) is beneficial
      • ITIL Service Management Foundation Certification is a plus
      • Security-related certification (e.g. CISSP) is a plus
    • Good command in English, further foreign languages are a plus
    • Ability to work in an international IT environment with cross-cultural communication skills
    • Participate in a weekend on-call duty rotation
    • Willingness to travel (approx. 10%)
